Leading Australian motocross and supercross team Zero Seven Motorsports has announced Troy Lee Designs and Maxima Oils as new naming sponsors and a brand new alliance with Kawasaki motorcycles for 2013.

Troy Lee Designs – Maxima Zero Seven Motorsports will compete in all 10 rounds of the Monster Energy MX Nationals and the full Australian Supercross Championship aboard Kawasaki machinery, a major coup for the fully revamped privateer team.

Seeking their first-ever national championship victory, two of Australia’s best-known motocross athletes Kade Mosig and Cody Mackie join the team in 2013.

Mosig, a multiple national junior champion, finished fourth and third respectively in the MX2 motocross and supercross championships in 2012.

This year he will attempt to win his first ever MX2 championship and believes 2013 is his best pre-season preparation of his career.

“Without a doubt this is the best preparation I’ve ever had for a MX Nationals season,” Mosig said. “Having competed in the US over the off-season, I haven’t really had any time off. I’m feeling really strong for round one.”

Mackie returns to the MX Nationals after over a year away from Australian competition. Mackie recently completed seven months of intense filming as a stunt man in South Africa for the upcoming Mad Max movie. The 27-year-old from Kiama in New South Wales is positive the time off has been excellent for his racing.

“Taking a year off was great for my racing career,” Mackie said. “I missed it so much that now I’m hungrier than ever to get out there.”

Zero Seven Motorsports owner and team manager Mark Haughton welcomed the team’s new major partners and is confident the team’s on and off track presence will be made even more prominent with Mosig and Mackie.

“We are extremely excited to have such solid sponsorship support for the 2013 season,” Haughton said. “Kade and Cody are incredible riders and the team’s entire support network is second to none. We are determined to over deliver on our promises and ensure a fantastic season ahead for everyone involved. We are all counting down the days until round one.”

Steve Cramer Products, the Australian distributors for Troy Lee Designs and Maxima Oils, committed to the new look team for 2013 providing support across many of their parts and accessory brands. Managing director Steve Cramer is confident his brands will be well represented at the pinnacle of Australian motorcycling.

“We’re delighted to partner with Zero Seven Motorsports,” Cramer commented. “I’ve known both Cody and Kade for many years now. They are both incredibly talented and we look forward to seeing them represent our products both on and off the track.”

The switch to Kawasaki machinery in the off season marks an exciting chapter for the privateer team who will have factory support from the Japanese manufacturer for the first time in 2013.

Kawasaki’s motorsports manager Glenn MacDonald was integral in piecing the deal together with Zero Seven Motorsports saying their motivations for doing so are simple – to win races and championships.

“Despite choosing to focus our own factory efforts on the MX1 class, we are still very committed to winning with the KXF250,” McDonald said.

“Kade Mosig is a proven race winner and championship contender. We look forward to seeing him on top of the podium throughout the season.”

The Troy Lee Designs – Maxima Zero Seven Motorsports all new look is yet to be released, with the team planning to do so via a social media and viral video campaign. Details will be announced in the coming days.

The 10 round 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals kick off in Raymond Terrace, NSW on April 14.
