After experiencing years of domination in the 250SX class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Mitch Payton has been left looking for more from team riders Tyla Rattray and Martin Davalos.

Heading into round five of the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross west region 250SX series, Payton’s riders are yet to lay down any dominate performances against the stacked field.

Payton expected more from Rattray and Davalos, both riders are veterans of the 250SX class with plenty of skill and experience to get the job done.

“I really expected more from Tyla and I really expected Martin to have the speed to run with those guys with the right circumstances,” Payton told Racer X Online. “And right now he just needs to dig down and find that speed. He’s got to do it.

With proven equipment, the bikes are not the issue, Payton is looking for his riders to lift the level of intensity and hang it out on the track.

“I know the bikes are good so I just think we got to get a little bit more,” he added. “The intensity has to come up and got to hang it out. We’re doing what we can do and they got to ride – got to hang it out.”

Davalos and Rattray currently hold seventh and 10th placing’s overall in the 250SX west region points chase after four rounds. Blake Baggett, the third member of the west region squad is currently sidelined with injury.
