Rockstar Energy Racing’s Davi Millsaps landed himself on the 450SX podium once again at Oakland’s round four of the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross series, further cementing his status as a serious title contender.

After scoring the season opening win at Anaheim 1, Millsaps has put together a string of strong and consistent performances, continuing that trend in Oakland with a second place finish.

Millsaps admits that he was not feeling completely comfortable throughout the day’s practice sessions, making his podium finish much more rewarding at the end of the night.

“It was a good ending to a day that started off not that great and I’m pretty excited about it, a pretty cool ride,” said Millsaps. “First practice and second practice were not that great, but the third practice was better.

Millsaps extended his 450SX championship points lead with his second place finish, boosting his confidence to another level heading into round five.

“I was still uncomfortable and not feeling it and even in the heat race I was struggling,” he added. “To come out on the podium definitely got my confidence back up.”

Millsaps leads the championship chase by seven points over Muscle Milk Honda’s Trey Canard, with Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto lurking just eight points out of the lead in third.
