Another week toiling at the test track has Chad Reed and his TwoTwo Motorsports outfit optimistic about their chances at Oakland this weekend, host of the fourth round of Monster Energy Supercross.

While frustration was evident for Reed in the opening two rounds, the team’s podium breakthrough on return to Anaheim was verification that bike development was heading in the right direction.

Reed rode to a solid third place last weekend, and finds himself placed third overall in the points as he prepares for the next 450SX class showdown at the O.Co Coliseum.

He is hoping to give his fans another reason to celebrate on Australia Day by flying the flag proudly in Oakland.

“I’ve been away from home for the last decade but I’m still a proud Aussie and will be doing everything I can to get a good result for all of my supporters back in Australia,” said Reed.

“We’re closing in on a win – the first few rounds were tough and it was evident with all the back and forth changes we were making.

“My team understands me and knows what I want in a bike, they’ve been putting in a lot of work and the potential showed in Anaheim with that first podium. It’s a relief but now we’re setting our sights on more, and standing higher on the box.

“I’m confident we can go to Oakland with the strongest package we’ve had this season, and with a little luck we can come away with another strong result.”

Reed finished on the podium in Oakland last year, and will be chasing his 121st top three career finish this weekend.
