After clinching the 2012 Terex Australian Supercross Championships SX-Open title and successfully defending his 2011 crown, Jay Marmont is already looking towards the upcoming 2013 outdoor season.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider came who took four consecutive MX Nationals titles spanning from 2008 to 2011, was forced to give-up his title during the 2012 season.

Injuries prevented the Wollongong resident from ever reaching his full potential during the outdoor season, but he explains that his recent supercross title is exactly what he has been working towards all year long.

“The hard work’s paid off,” said Marmont. “Where we were with motocross this year wasn’t good. I went into the season injured so to answer back now with a supercross championship is exactly what I’ve been working for all year. It’s what all our sponsors have been working for and all of the Monster Energy Kawasaki team.

“The 2013 Kawasaki KX450F was really good. I really felt more comfortable on it as the series went on. We’re setting up the bike really well and I feel like its got room to go that little bit more which will make me even more comfortable.”

Marmont says he and his team will certainly be a force to be reckoned with as the 2013 Australian outdoor season comes around.

“All of our sponsors have banked so much in me winning a championship so I’m so happy to reward them with one and also myself and just prove that Jay Marmont is back,” he explained. “We’ll be a force to be reckoned with within motocross next year and I’m very proud.”

Marmont appreciates the effort put in by team manager Troy Carroll and adds that he looks forward to the upcoming testing sessions.

“Troy’s always raising the bar, hiring the best people to get more out of the bike, which is already an unreal package, and I’m really pumped to be working with the new air fork,” he continued. “I’m really looking forward to going out and testing in December and getting it tuned. But for now it’s time to celebrate this championship.”

The Monster Energy Kawasaki team and Marmont will continue their partnership throughout the upcoming 2013 motocross and supercross seasons.
