Jake Weimer has been crowned the 30th King of Bercy in France over the weekend, adding his name to the long and illustrious list of past winners.

Weimer held-off challenges from GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac and JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha team’s Justin Brayton, who is also a former ‘King of Bercy’ title holder.

“I made it tough on myself but I wasn’t surprised because I was pretty nervous about today,” said Weimer. “It was important for me to wrap it up so all day I kinda rode a bit cautious and tight. I’m glad I got it done!.

“The three nights here are nerve-wracking. I knew I needed to do well on the first night to have a chance at the win.

“Then on the second you want to continue the roll but coming to the third night I knew only I could blow it! It is a like a little championship. It is not easy.”

Weimer is excited to have won the same event that so many of his heroes had came and conquered in past years.

“It’s really awesome to be the King of Bercy because all my heroes came and raced and won here,” he added.

“This is my second year in Paris and I had fun in 2011 but did not give myself much of a chance, but this time I wanted it. It is amazing to be able to get on the plane tomorrow knowing I have this achievement chalked off.”

Behind Weimer was Tomac in second place, along with Brayton in third. Defending 2011 champion Kyle Chisholm finished the event in seventh place overall.
