Toowoomba's round three of the 2012 Terex Australian Supercross Championships will provide an array of action for everyone to enjoy.

Toowoomba’s round three of the 2012 Terex Australian Supercross Championships is ramping up to be a big one this weekend on 10 November.

The 1500 horsepower ‘Devil’s Taxi’ Monster Truck, which holds the world record for the longest wheelie (518ft), will be part of the action at Toowoomba Showground.

Demonstrating the seemingly impossible record-breaking feat, Devils Taxi pilot Sam Xuereb, will prop his ride onto its hind-quarters, balancing the five tonne machine as it accelerates across the arena.

“Those attending the Toowoomba Supercross event are in for a real treat,” Xuereb said. “We are going to do something that has never been done in Australia before.

“It is great to see the look on kids faces when we come out. Its big and loud and they see it as their own Monster truck toys coming to life.”

Families visiting the event will enjoy a full program of entertainment including freestyle motocross, fireworks and a celebrity race.

Parents and their kids considering a first dirt bike will also have the opportunity to test a 50cc machine in safe and supervised conditions in the Throttle Jockeys Arena.

Staffed by expert instructors, is purpose built area for kids to learn the basics of riding a dirt bike, including accelerating, braking and cornering. The free sessions see kids kitted out with safety gear and given a beginner’s briefing before setting off on their first laps.

The Throttle Jockeys Arena, located in the middle of the Supercross race team pits, is an initiative supported by the teams, particularly Toowoomba local and Monster Energy Kawasaki team boss Troy Carroll, who said it provided children with a great introduction to the sport.

“I think it is fantastic that Supercross is coming to Toowoomba for the first time,” Carroll said.

“Toowoomba has had a long history of successful motocross events at Echo Valley so it is great for the town to now have the opportunity to see the spectacle that comes with Supercross.

“This is a great event, under lights with something for everyone. The Throttle Jockeys is a great initiative that gives kids the chance to try and ride in a safe and controlled environment. It is a great way to introduce the kids to the sport,” Carroll continued.

Multiple World Supercross Champion Chad Reed returns for the event which will showcase Australia’s best Supercross riders across the Pro Open, Pro Lites, Under 19s, Junior Lites and 85cc/150cc 4-stroke BW classes.
