Four-time defending Monster Energy MX Nationals Champion Jay Marmont has had his first taste of the 2013 model Kawasaki KX250F, impressed with team green’s latest Lites contender.

Marmont rode the bike last weekend at his home club in Wollongong, assisting Kawasaki Australia in finding a base-setting for the bike in production trim ahead of it’s national release.

“My first ride on the 2013 Kawasaki KX250F was awesome and I rode it at Mt. Kembla, which is familiar to me,” Marmont said. “I just hopped off my race-spec 450 and got on the stock 250F, but my first impressions were awesome.

“I obviously had to change gears more because it’s a 250, but once I got them right then I started getting confidence in the bike. It’s really nimble, easy to ride. I’d come into a rut, second or third gear, and just plant it. It wouldn’t sit me up, just stayed solid in the rut.

“It was pulling good up the hills, the balance of the bike felt good, but I did change a few clicks here and there for my weight. Overall it was really impressive and a few local guys got some times on me, which were only a second off what I was doing on my 450.

“Hopefully I can get out on it again and maybe spend some more time on it with the guys at Kawasaki.”
