Earning round wins are on the agenda for Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jay Marmont in the second half of the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals.

After battling with injuries throughout the first half of the series, Marmont admits that while sitting in seventh place overall and 94 points behind 450 Class leader Josh Coppins, the championship at this stage is out of the question and round wins will be the main focus.

“I need to get some round wins for the team and myself, the championship is pretty much out of the question at the moment,” Marmont said. “So I just need to go out there and win some races and get that big Monster Energy Kawasaki back up on top.”

Marmont, our defending supercross champion, has a plan in place to prepare for the upcoming supercross series, which is scheduled to start late in September, with a new practice track being built within the next week.

“I need to finished off solid, there are no two ways about it,” he added. “I’ve got a bit of a plan, I’ve made my own track better and some people are lending us machinery and I’m actually building my new motocross and supercross tracks next week.

“I’m just going to spend time doing motos and preparing for Hervey Bay and that way my supercross track will be built and I can head straight into the supercross series which starts very shortly after the motocross wraps up.”

Marmont will be back on the line when the Monster Energy MX Nationals return at Hervey Bay in Queensland on 1 July.
