Wilsons Jetpilot MX eyes improvement at Wonthaggi

Queensland-based Australian Motocross Championship team Wilsons Jetpilot MX will take on the third round of the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals this weekend at Wonthaggi in Victoria.

The Wilsons Jetpilot MX team will be looking for improved results at round three in Wonthaggi.

Queensland-based Australian Motocross Championship team Wilsons Jetpilot MX will take on the third round of the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals this weekend at Wonthaggi in Victoria.

The team has experienced mixed results so far during the opening two rounds of the season, with Luke Wilson currently ranked 25th in the premier MX1 standings and teammate Thomas Rushton one position in arrears in 26th.

Wilson started the season with 20th overall at Conondale in Queensland on 1 April with a best result of 17th in moto three, but fell short of a point-scoring position at Coonabarabran in New South Wales a fortnight ago.

With further seat time aboard the Wilsons Jetpilot MX KX450F and development continuing throughout the series, the 22-year-old is looking to gain momentum at Wonthaggi’s third round.

“I felt like I definitely had the speed at the second round to run in the top 15, but fitness held me back a bit when I got a good start in the final moto and I have been working on that,” Wilson explained. “The Wonthaggi track is a track that will hopefully suit me and it’s similar to Coolum, so I look forward to it.

“After two rounds I have a gauge where I’m at with the competition, so I hope to be in the top 15 during each round and hopefully if I’m consistent all year it will help me gain a good position for the championship.”

Rushton also produced his best result at Conondale with 23rd overall after taking 18th in the opening moto of the season, however points have since eluded him and he’ll be looking to turn that form around come Sunday in Victoria.

Wilsons Jetpilot MX will contest the third round of the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals at Wonthaggi in Victoria this weekend, 28-29 April. The series will span 10 rounds throughout the nation during the season.
