CDR Yamaha’s new recruit Lawson Bopping has pin-pointed starts as the key if he’s to challenge for victory in the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals.

Bopping was exceptionally quick at Coonabarabran a fortnight ago, however a lack of good starts denied him of reaching his full potential throughout the three motos.

With Wonthaggi next up this Sunday, he’s got his mind set on winning races, which takes a good jump out of the gate considering the world class depth of the MX1 field.

“I felt awesome on the bike all weekend,” he reflected. “My starts were okay, but with a group of guys this good, I need to improve them a little so hopefully by the next round I can be closer to the front and challenging for race wins.”

Bopping finished seventh overall at round two despite qualifying fastest and setting the fastest lap in the opening two races.

With that result, the 22-year-old now holds down sixth in the championship after two of 10 rounds.
