AORC leader Price to make GNCC return this month

Motorex KTM Off-Road Racing's Toby Price has again dominated in the third and fourth rounds of the Australian Off-Road Championships at Wonthaggi, NSW, in preparation for his American GNCC return this month.

Toby Price has dominated the AORC series and now looks forward to proving himself in the American GNCC series.

Motorex KTM Off-Road Racing’s Toby Price will return to the U.S. Grand National Cross Country series this month, fresh off a clean sweep in the Wonthaggi round of the Australian Off Road Championship.

Price won both Sprint rounds Outright and in E3 on the big-bore 500 EXC, conquering the competition in dominant fashion despite the tight layout of the course.

“The whole weekend went to plan and the KTM 500 EXC was working great,” said Price. “We managed to come out with two wins, so it’s been a really strong start to the series for us.

“The course was pretty tight in some sections, but the bike is handling so well, and then when we go out into the flowing sections it’s even better again. I couldn’t ask for any more out of it, so hopefully we can keep this up.”

Price has now booked tickets to fly out of Sydney at the end of the week to go bunk with Josh Strang in America while he prepares to settle some unfinished business in the American GNCC.

His previous stints at the GNCC last year were plagued with upsets from the beginning, after not having suitable suspension and bike set up for the rough conditions.

For this trip, KTM Australia have secured their own stock KTM 500 EXC at a U.S. dealership for Price to pick up. He will bring his own suspension, ignition and controls to completely personalise his machine. This will enable Price to be as comfortable as possible as he takes on the world’s best.

“It’s a tough game trying to prove yourself in the states,” said Price. “If I do well this time then hopefully I’ll get some support to have that bike shipped across America to race the WORCS round the following weekend.

“If not, I’ll just buy an old Chevy, pull the 500 to bits and stick it in the boot, then road trip across America myself!”

Price will make his GNCC return at round four, the Big Buck GNCC on 14-15 April.
