GYTR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha’s Luke Arbon hopes that his first career Pro Lites podium in the Hunter Valley round of Monster Energy Super X is a sign of things to come.

Arbon finished a solid third overall after scoring 6-7-2 finishes in the Triple Header main event, his highlight coming in the final race of the evening when he trailed Matt Moss to the finish.

“I hadn’t been feeling the best this week, so I was just hoping to have a consistent night and not do anything stupid,” Arbon said.

“But after my heat race when I saw I was able to run the speed of the championship contenders, I thought I had a pretty good chance of getting inside the top five.

“I wasn’t getting great starts in the finals but I was able to stay out of trouble in the first two turns and make some passes early to get up the front.

In the first two, I was a bit too nice to a few riders and let them pass but it’s something I will learn from. The last race was awesome and I was in second almost the whole time.

“To finish within a few seconds of Matt Moss was pretty cool. I want to thank the team for all the help and support and hope this is the start of some good results in the Pro Lites class.”

Arbon now sits eighth in the standings, tied with factory Kawasaki contender Dean Ferris with one round to be contested this weekend in Queensland.
