Frenchman Christophe Pourcel took pole position in the MX1 class at the GP of Europe.

Frenchman Christophe Pourcel took pole position in the MX1 class at the GP of Europe.

Christophe Pourcel obtained his second Lovemytime pole position award in a row in the MX1 class at the Grand Prix of Europe on Saturday at Gaildord in Germany.

CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Pourcel obtained another qualifying race victory on the hard pack track of Gaildorf.

In Matterley Basin the French rider already proved that he had the speed and the rhythm to fight for the top three positions and with today’s victory at the MX1 qualifying race, he reasserted his potential.

Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX1’s Cairoli finished second today in the qualifying race and he will be able to choose a good position at the gate tomorrow.

The leader of the series admitted that Gaildorf is not one of his favourite tracks and that he does not want to take many risks to assure the MX1 title either tomorrow or in Fermo.

Honda World Motocross’ Eugene Bobryshev was very surprised with his performance today, as he was not expecting to finish third today after his comeback from the back injury.

LS Honda Racing’s Shaun Simpson took the holeshot of the MX1 qualifying race, and although he tried to keep his leadership, he crossed the finish line fourth.

Completing the top five was Monster Energy Yamaha’s Steven Frossard, who started from an initial ninth position and managed to climb up to the fifth place.

New Zealand’s Cody Cooper qualified 22nd on the Rockstar Energy Drink Suzuki of Clement Desalle, taking a cautious approach to his MX1 debut.

Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2’s Ken Roczen won the MX2 qualifying race.

However, the German took advantage of some lapped riders and he managed to overtake teammate Jeffrey Herlings during the last lap.

Roczen has his crowd cheering for him in Gaildorf, so he is looking forward to obtain his maiden FIM MX2 title in front of his German fans tomorrow.

The second position was for Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2’s Herlings who started second right after Gautier Paulin and he took the lead already during the first lap.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Gautier Paulin took the holeshot and led the qualifying race during the first two laps, eventually finishing third.

The fourth position was taken by CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Tommy Searle, who succeeded in going from an initial eighth position up to the final fourth place.
