Serco Yoshimura Yamaha’s Kirk Gibbs isn’t backing down in his quest for the Pro Lites title in the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals despite suffering a disastrous DNF in moto one at Coonabarabran last Sunday.

Gibbs entered the round with less than 30 points separating him from championship leader Matt Moss, but a luckless day saw that margin extended to 54 points.

A crash in moto one forced Gibbs out before he scored 3-10-7 results in the final three motos, taking 10th position overall for the round.

“I’m not going to dwell on today for too long,” Gibbs reflected. “It’s just one of those days where you need to move on quickly and prepare for the next round as there isn’t much that can be taken from it.”

“The positive is that I really like the last three tracks at Albury, Moree and Coolum so as of now I will get myself ready to go for them and ensure that I fight this thing out all the way to the finish.”

Gibbs is the lone rider this season in the Pro Lites category to win all four motos on one day, completing that feat during his home round at Murray Bridge in South Australia.
