Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Dean Ferris remains confident that he’s on the verge of an overall round win in the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals after stretching his series lead at Goanna Tracks last weekend.

Ferris narrowly missed the overall by a single point behind Jay Marmont, his 2-3-4-2 results again displaying a case of consistency for his fifth podium in succession.

“I’m still looking for that round win, but I’m confident it will come,” the 20-year-old said. “I’ve beaten everybody out there, just not all on the same day.

“I gained some good points in the championship today and I started the day off well by qualifying in pole position. I rode well in the first race but bad starts in the second and third motos hurt me, I had to ride through the pack.

“Then a holeshot and second place in the final race ended the day on a good note. The track changed today and I should’ve changed my bike for the final two motos to suit.

“That affected my lap times after lunch but overall I’m happy. It was a good day.”

Ferris now maintains a 13-point lead in the championship with just three rounds remaining in the series.
