Former Speedway GP star Leigh Adams was seriously injured at the Finke Desert Race.

A Facebook group has been created in a bid to support international Speedway legend Leigh Adams following serious injuries he sustained in an incident while training for the Finke Desert Race earlier this month.

Following the accident a group has been created on the social network website, giving family, friends and fans a chance to send their messages of support.

The ‘Leigh Adams Love and Support Group’ has been greeted with an amazing response, rallying more than 4,100 followers passing on message of support and encouragement to Leigh and his family.

Speedway photographer and close friend Mike Patrick, creator of the group, has urged fans to keep their messages of support coming in.

“I am in touch with Leigh’s wife Kylie, who reads and passes on the messages to Leigh, all of which will be read by the man when he’s well enough to do so,” Patrick said.

“I know they will help him on the long road to, hopefully, a full recovery from the injuries that he now faces.”

Mildura-based Adams suffered fractured vertebrae, extensive spinal cord damage, punctured lungs, broken ribs, a broken scapula and a small fracture in his neck in a crash while riding south of Alice Springs on 7 June.
