Defending triple Australian Motocross Champion Jay Marmont admits that his first overall win of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals season came as a hugely proud moment of his career at Coonabarabran on Sunday.

CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha’s Marmont has been stunning in recent weeks while on a national road trip, winning Western Australia’s Manjimup 15,000, the Queensland state titles and now the sixth round of the MX Nationals on consecutive weekends.

The 28-year-old took 5-1-2-3 results at the all-new Goanna Tracks Complex, which was enough to capture the overall by one point from series leader Dean Ferris.

“I am proud of this win today as it didn’t come easy and we had to fight for it,” Marmont reflected. “The competition on the track is close and intense and there are no easy races any more so to win with the level of competition so high feels good.

“I also must thank the entire staff of CDR Rockstar Yamaha that have put in a huge month between the last round to get the bike exactly how I wanted it. The technical staff did their job during the week and I did mine on the weekend, so it was a rewarding team effort today.”

Marmont now sits in fourth position in the premier Pro Open category, some 54 points from the lead, but with 300 points still available and the form that Marmont is in, title number four isn’t out of reach.

Stay turned for a full post-race rundown with Marmont to be uploaded on MotoOnline.com.au tomorrow morning.
