Motorcycling Australia has allocated $10,000 in International Rider Grants to some of our nation’s leading motorcycle talent for the first half of season 2011.

The money has been distributed amongst nine riders, with five riders from off-road disciplines receiving funding to assist their overseas campaigns.

Once again, MA received an outstanding response to the grants according to a press release issued this week, with all riders receiving a grant to help them compete internationally as part of this round of funding.

The off-road riders to receive the grant included Kristy Gillespie (Motocross), Josh Green (Enduro), Ashley Day (Enduro), Michael Kirkness (Flat Track) and Cameron Woodward (Long Track).

Four road racers have also taken advantage of the MA grant.

MA also today announced that applications are open for the second round of International Rider Grants.

Forms can be downloaded from the MA website at www.ma.org.au/grants and applications close on Tuesday, 31 May.

Those riders who are interested in applying for the grants must be competing in International events from 1 July 2011 to 21 December 2011 only, and they can apply for up to $5000.
