Queenslander Dan Reardon has returned to the United States following a disappointing start to his Australian Motocross Championship campaign at Broadford last weekend, eager to bounce back at Appin’s second round on 3 April.

Reardon endured a frustrating return to Australia at the Broadford round of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals, finishing 11th overall in what were difficult muddy conditions for the Pro Open category.

“It wasn’t the best day for me and we ran into a lot of problems,” 2007 series champion Reardon said. “The conditions were tough, but sometimes the first round is like this and I think we’ll be fine.

“I’ll go back to the States and do some more training now, so I think we’ll come back a lot better for Appin.”

Making a solid Pro Open debut aboard KTM’s 350 SX-F was Wollongong resident Ryan Marmont, claiming fifth overall in treacherous muddy conditions after a storm lashed the complex as the Open proceedings commenced.

Marmont stunned in the first of four back-to-back 15-minute motos by racing to second in his first ever national Pro Open outing.

“The day went pretty good and I’m content to finish with a top five overall,” the 25-year-old said. “The mud was horrendous, but I felt like I had good speed and I really enjoyed my Pro Open debut.”

It was a promising debut for the multi-time Pro Lites national champion, continuing his form witnessed so far in 2011 following a string of solid results in the West Coast Lites AMA Supercross series at the beginning of the year.
