WSBK: Aprilia's Biaggi continues to lead Phillip Island tests

World champion Biaggi has been the pace-setter in Phillip Island WSBK testing this week.

The second day of World Superbike testing for the Aprilia and Yamaha teams at Phillip Island took place yesterday with Max Biaggi once again the quickest man out on the track.

The Aprilia Alitalia rider got down to a time of 1:32.3 seconds aboard the RSV4 his RSV4, good enough to remain atop the time sheets for the second day in succession.

2010 champion Biaggi was able to confirm the good performance of the new Ohlins forks and he also tried out a new swing-arm and fuel tank, amongst other things.

The tests also revolved around a new engine spec, with a different power delivery.

There were two crashes during the day involving WSBK rookie Marco Melandri and Leon Camier, at the long left-hand Turn 12 leading onto Gardner Straight.

Italian Melandri injured his finger, while Camier continued testing after his crash but then hit a seagull. With his arm swollen he decided to call it a day.

Both Camier and Yamaha rookie Eugene Laverty tied for the second fastest time at 1:32.5, while Melandri was directly behind with a promising 32.6.

The tests will continue today for a third and final day, but the weather forecast is for rain.
