Fifth in this year’s Australian Superbike Championship wasn’t exactly the result that Jamie Stauffer was hoping for in 2010, but the Ducati Motologic star says he can take a number of positives out of the season.

Stauffer gradually gained momentum throughout the six-round season and took two pole positions, however that elusive championship race victory never came despite having the speed to do it on a number of occasions as the team developed the immaculate 1198R.

“It has been quite a good year as far as being the first year on a Ducati and with the team at Motologic,” former dual Superbike and Supersport champion Stauffer commented.

“We’ve been very fast at times and had some strong results. I would like to thank everyone at Motologic for their continuous hard work and also Ducati and all the sponsors for their support throughout the year.

“I’m looking forward to next year – I know it will be a very positive year.”

Following a solid end to their maiden campaign together with Ducati, sources suggest that the Motologic Racing outfit will return to Honda for next season, however the speculation is yet to be officially confirmed by Motologic owner Paul Free or Honda Australia.

All four of the team’s Superbikes are currently up for sale on the team’s website at www.motologic.com.au for $47,000 apiece, as well as the team’s current two-seat race replica that has been used during the season to thrill sponsors and fans.

“Overall, I am extremely happy with the team’s result and what we have achieved this year with the Ducati 1198R,” Free said. “When we started the year our team had no experience at all with the Ducati, and our riders had never ridden the bike.

“Now, at the end of the season we have won a race, qualified in pole position on three separate occasions and have a motorcycle that is extremely capable of winning the Australian Superbike Championship.

“I can honestly say I am extremely proud of what we have achieved as a team in the 2010 Australian Superbike Championship – it has not been easy but it has been a great challenge and a fantastic learning experience.”

The highlight of the season came at Phillip Island’s non-championship scoring MotoGP support races, where Stauffer was able to claim pole position and the team’s lone race win and overall victory of the season.
