Oz MX: Beaton breaks through in Albury confidence boost

Ross Beaton broke through for his best ride of the season at Wodonga yesterday.

Ross Beaton broke through for his best ride of the season at Wodonga yesterday.

GYTR Rockstar Yamaha’s Ross Beaton turned in his best performance of the 2010 season claiming the Under 19s round win at round six of the Rockstar Energy MX Nationals at Albury over the weekend.

Beaton took the win in convincing fashion taking 4-1-1 finishes in the three races to narrow the margin in the championship chase, his only mishap of the day coming in the opening moto while battling for the lead when he tucked the front and hit the dirt.

Motos two and three were text book performances with Beaton taking control of the race and racing to comfortable victories.

“I knew coming into this round I had to make a move and get my championship hopes back on track,” Beaton explained.

“The crash in race one was unfortunate, but I wasn’t going to die wondering. I am here to win races and I was just trying to get to the front. But still, I can’t complain with how things turned out and I can’t thank my team and mechanic Dan enough for the work they continue to put in.”

Beaton won the day with team mate Harley Quinlan in fourth place in a successful round for the Yamaha development team. Beaton and Quinlan’s Under 19s teammate Shaun Redhead finished 15th overall after crashing out of moto one.

Pro Lites team rider Luke Styke also didn’t have the day he was after and finished in 10th overall, feeling the heavy effects of a flu. Despite the result, Styke still runs an impressive seventh place overall in the championship in his first year of Pro Lites competition.
