Herfoss was the victor in race one of the Hidden Valley Supersport round.

Herfoss was the victor in race one of the Hidden Valley Supersport round.

Team Suzuki’s Troy Herfoss has converted pole position to the race victory in this morning’s opening InsureMyRide Supersport stoush at Hidden Valley in the Northern Territory, the championship leader winning by a comfortable 1.286 seconds following the 17-lap duration.

Herfoss stretched out an early advantage over Brodie Waters and Aaron Gobert, before a late-race charge from Triumph’s Christan Casella saw the Victorian work his way into second – setting the fastest lap of the race on the final outing with a 1:10.470.

Casella’s progress slotted Waters back to third to round out the podium, while Gobert held off the attack of talented youngster Aaron Morris, the Yamaha-mounted pairing rounding out the top five.

Casella, Waters, Gobert and Morris enjoyed the spotlight for the majority of the race after Herfoss put in solid early laps, the race pace quick in humid conditions that were measured at over 36 degrees during the race.

The top five were separated by 6.775sec following the initial Supersport outing of the round.

Superbike race one will be up at 12:30 local time.
