Former AMA Superstock Champion Aaron Gobert will compete for the Factory Aprilia Millennium Technologies team for the remainder of the 2009 AMA Daytona Sportbike Championship.

Gobert will partner British rider Chaz Davies on the twin-cylinder RSV1000 for the remainder of the year, with Davies scoring his best result of the season in second position behind Yamaha YZF-R6-mounted Ben Bostrom at Laguna Seca earlier this month.

Making his debut on the bike this weekend at Mid-Ohio, Gobert replaces Ben Thompson on the team, who separated with the team this week after a difficult season to date.

The opportunity comes at a critical time for Gobert, who has been competing in the AMA Superbike category this year aboard a privateer Honda, struggling through a variety of mechanical issues and lack of budget against the factory outfits.
