ASBK: ASBK coverage airing on Channel 10 starting this Sunday

IEG are proud to announce the airing of the Woodstock Bourbon Australian Superbike Championship on Channel Ten commencing this Sunday the 19th of July at 1.30pm. This airtime coupled with the current OneHD coverage is providing Australian viewers with more opportunities to follow the most exciting and popular championship in years.
This year, the Woodstock Bourbon Australian Championship has taken a significant leap forward, offering world class racing coupled with re-energized television coverage. With on air commentary provided by Australia’s leading motorsport commentators Greg Rust and Daryl Beattie, viewers not only see the best motorcycle racing in Australian, they hear the best analysis and insight into the riders as well.
Yarrive Konsky, director of IEG says that the decision to show ASBK on Channel 10 represents “a great show of faith by Channel 10 and we are really pleased with the steps they have taken to ensure the Woodstock Bourbon Australian Superbike Championship receives the coverage we feel it rightfully deserves. The teams, riders sponsors and organisers all pull together to put on a simply awesome show and this coverage will let the public share in that excitement”.
The on air packages cover racing from the Supersport and Superbike categories as well as highlights from support classes.
Eight onboard cameras provide the viewer with a rider’s view of just how close Australian Superbike racing is and offers a rare insight into the thrills and the spills.
Paul Mullin from television production company Black Magic could not believe the footage captured from Joe Rocket Suzuki’s rider Troy Herfoss’s bike when he crashed recently at the Queensland round– “The bike was just somersaulting through the air and every scary moment was captured by his onboard camera. Watching that footage later, it was clear to us that the bike really does hit hard. Thankfully, neither Troy nor the onboard camera was damaged.”
IEG’s decision to partner with Channel Ten and OneHD was an easy one. Yarrive Konsky: “Channel 10 and OneHD is the home of motorsport and in particular motorcycle racing- being the free to air broadcasters for MotoGP and World Superbike. This dedication to motorcycle racing made us feel at home so we elected to partner with them to broadcast the 2009 Woodstock Bourbon Australian Superbike Championship.”

While the year to date has had its up and down moments, the Channel 10 and OneHD people have worked with us at every turn and really supported the championship. The action from the first day of the double header in Queensland will be shown this Sunday the 19th of July at 1.30pm, with the remaining day being shown on Sunday August 16th at 12.00pm.
