Current 250 Class AMA Pro Motocross Champion Dean Wilson has spoken out about a potential future with TwoTwo Motorsports when he opts to step up into the premier class.

The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team rider has a unique friendship with TwoTwo team owner/rider Chad Reed, but in speaking to Vurbmoto, he says that the two are yet to officially speak about an on-track future together.

“That’s what everybody’s claiming, that I’m going to be his teammate in the future, but you never know what can happen,” Wilson commented. “I mean, just cos we’re friends doesn’t mean he’s just going to automatically put me on his team.

“You’ve got to earn that. But you know, we have never spoke about it, we just ride together and we’re buddies, so it’s all good.”

A trip to Reed’s home in Florida during the nationals last year helped boost Wilson to the title, and he admits that he does take a lot from riding and training with the Australian.

“Training with Chad’s good,” Wilson said. “We ride together and train together, so it’s pretty good. It’s just refreshing to come up and ride with him, do something different.

“He just helps me, like at the level we’re at now, it’s just the little things that count the most. He helps me out with the little things and just general advice, so it’s pretty cool to be around someone with so much knowledge.”

Following his win in San Diego last weekend, Wilson holds the red plate in the West Coast Lites class of AMA Supercross with three rounds remaining.
