Australian Tayla Jones has successfully defended her crown after securing the 2018 WXC National Championship at Mount Morris’ 11th round of the 2018 Amsoil Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series.

After earning six wins, three second place results and a third place finish, Jones clinched back-to-back titles with two rounds still to spare in the championship.

“Last year was amazing but to back it up is an incredible feeling,” Jones said in a social media statement. “And I totally agree with getting the second title is always harder then the first but it’s all worth it to hold the number one plate. I can’t thank my parents, my friends, all of my sponsors and my mechanic Steward Baylor enough for their support and helping make this dream come true.”

Compatriot Mackenzie Tricker completed the weekend’s round in third behind Jones, and currently sits third in the series rankings with a strong chance claiming vice champion honours. The GNNC now heads to St. Clairsville in Ohio on 15- 16 October.
