Waters and Wilson ready to launch Suzuki’s supercross assault

Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki press release:

Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki riders Todd Waters and Luke Wilson are preparing to converge on Jimboomba in Queensland for the first round of the 2016 Australian Supercross Championships which take place this Saturday, September 17.

After a successful motocross campaign which finished in August, both Waters and Wilson have made a welcome transition to Supercross over the past three weeks, and will finally have the opportunity to test their skills in the SX1 class this weekend.

Waters, who not only finished third in the Australian Motocross Championship, but has been called up to fill in for an injured rider at this year’s MX of Nations in Italy, currently has a lot on his plate, but shared that he’s looking forward to making his Supercross return this weekend.

“I haven’t actually raced Supercross since 2012, but I’m a racer. It doesn’t matter if I’m on the track or in a Go Kart, I go out there to win and do the best that I can,” Waters shared.

“At the moment, I’ve just been focussing on Supercross and I’m really enjoying it. Racing Supercross you get to be so close to the crowd, and it’s just an awesome atmosphere.

“For me, I don’t have any specific expectations result wise this weekend, I just want to put together a good 20 laps. I feel strong through the whoops, we have the bike set up well suspension wise, and I’m ready to go racing.”

Wilson, who has had a break through year aboard his Factory Suzuki machine, says that he can’t wait for the gates to drop at Jimboomba on Saturday, and that after a productive three weeks, that’s he’s keen to see what he can do in the SX1 class.

“I’m really looking forward to round one. Obviously it was a quick transition from Motocross to Supercross but I prefer this style of racing,” Wilson shared.

“I’ve had a really good couple of weeks on the bike, we’ve done some testing and the goal this weekend is to get this series started on a high. We will be looking for a good result straight up.

“It’s nice that for the first round we’re close to home. Being back to back with motocross, we were able to get in a lot of training and we’re feeling good ahead of this weekend.”

Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki, will now head to round one of the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship at Jimboomba in Queensland, being held on Saturday September 17.
