French international exceeding initial top-five goal entering Cronulla.
Boost Mobile Honda SX1 recruit Cedric Soubeyras says sitting P2 in the AUSX standings is ‘more than expected’ entering round three in Cronulla, the French international already exceeding his initial goal of a top-five result.
The 36-year-old supercross specialist was somewhat of an unknown commodity leading into Redcliffe’s double-header, with Yarrive Konsky drafting him in as the second premier class entry alongside 2023 champion Dean Wilson.
In targeting a top-five finish at the opener, Soubeyras admitted that leaving rounds one and two second in the championship was beyond his expectations in these early stages of the 2025 Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship.
“When I arrived two weeks ago, in the interviews I was saying that I would like to be in the top-five, so to now be second in the championship after two rounds is more than expected, actually,” commented Soubeyras. “I’ve since had more time on the bike, and we have had two weeks of testing and practice, as well as riding alongside Dean.
“That’s kind of a good thing, riding throughout the week with Dean, as it gets me in a good rhythm entering the weekend, but you know how it is – we both want to win the championship. If I can get some wins before the series is over, that would be amazing.
“But, I know how hard that is. It’s not only Dean, because five other guys can get on the podium, so I need to be focused, get some points, and stay out of trouble.”
Soubeyras earned third on debut in Queensland, before improving to second overall on day two – courtesy of two P2 finishes across each final – and currently sits 16 markers outside of Wilson entering the third round in Sydney tomorrow.
