A fractured shoulder blade will rule MX2 rookie Seth Burchell out of Warwick’s fifth round of the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship this weekend, expecting to return to racing in time for Canberra next month.

The 19-year-old currently sits seventh in the standings entering the second half of the season, highlighted by a best result of Appin in what has been a largely consistent start to his professional career.

“Unfortunately, I had a crash at a local race in Cessnock over the weekend – I was just trying to get some gate drops in and sharpen up before Warwick,” Burchell told MotoOnline. “I ended up going down and fracturing my left scapula, which is a bit of a setback.

“It’s definitely a bummer because I feel like my rookie MX2 season has been heading in a really positive direction. The goal now is to only miss Warwick and be back on the line for Canberra. I’m doing everything I can to speed up the recovery – a lot of physio, rehab, and just staying focused on getting back behind the gate as soon as possible.”

Burchell – last year’s SX3 title winner in the Australian Supercross Championship – has graduated to MX2 as part of the Bulk Nutrients Echuca Yamaha Race Team, which has support from Yamaha Motor Australia and the WBR team based out of Echuca Yamaha.
