Motorcycling Australia (MA) has named a strong four-rider roster to represent Team Australia at the 2025 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship (WJMX), which is set to take place in Romagne, France, from July 4-6.

Kye Sproule and Mason Ezergailis will compete in the 65cc category, while Seth Thomas and Blake Bohannon will line up in the 85cc class.

All four riders have shown impressive domestic form recently, with Bohannon and Thomas currently one and two in the MX85 class of the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship, while Ezergailis and Sproule sit first and third in the MX65 Futures standings.

No 125cc riders have been selected this year due to a scheduling clash with round six of the ProMX Championship in Canberra, with the focus for top MX3 riders remaining on the national series.

“This team is very balanced and we’re taking a good group of riders who have been performing consistently,” commented WJMX team manager Ross Beaton. “It’s exciting to be able to take this group to Romagne, see how they perform on the world stage, and hopefully inspire other young riders.”

Peter Doyle, CEO of Motorcycling Australia, added: “I am absolutely delighted with the line-up of talented young riders who will represent Team Australia on the world stage at WJMX in 2025.

“In line with the continued growth of motocross racing in Australia, MA is proud to continue supporting juniors on the world stage, and l’m looking forward to seeing how this year’s team performs against the world’s best.”

Both Thomas and Ezergailis bring international experience to this year’s team, having competed at the 2024 WJMX in the Netherlands, finishing 12th (85cc) and 8th (65cc) respectively.

The WJMX features over 200 riders from 30 countries and is considered the premier event for junior motocross globally. It has launched the careers of many top Australians, including Jett Lawrence – winner of the 65cc class in 2014 – and Bailey Malkiewicz, who won the 125cc title in 2018.
