An opportunity to join Brett Metcalfe’s Penrite Racing-backed GO24 Team Green Kawasaki program will serve as a career lifeline of sorts for MX2 prospect Campbell Williams, remaining onboard KX250 machinery upon return from injury to ProMX.

Williams, 19, was initially announced to be rejoining the official Empire Kawasaki team for 2025, but that deal didn’t eventuate in the end after his season was delayed due to a broken femur sustained in AUSX last year.

While the Empire team had initially drafted in Ryan Alexanderson as his replacement and then later struck a deal with Rhys Budd as its MX2 class entry, Williams has been focused on his recovery and now finds himself in an ideal situation upon teaming up with legendary South Australian Metcalfe within the GO24 effort.

“The injury took longer to heal than I originally expected,” Williams told MotoOnline. “When I first got back on the bike, there was still a lot of pain in my leg, and I was dealing with some ligament complications.

“I’m really happy to be lining up on a Kawasaki – that was the plan all along. Doing it alongside someone like Brett, with his knowledge and experience, is something you can’t find just anywhere. I’ve been back riding for two weeks now and I’m starting to feel more like myself.

“The plan is to be on the gate at Canberra, finish the last rounds of motocross strong, and roll straight into supercross.”

The addition of Williams – who was 11th in his rookie MX2 campaign last year – sees him added to the existing GO24 roster of Kye Little, Cooper Rowe, Nash Metcalfe and Karaitiana Horne across an assortment of Australian motocross categories.
