Final results stand following unsuccessful appeal from Honda Racing.
Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha’s Ryder Kingsford has formally been named the Appin MX2 round winner, after an independent tribunal opted to reject an appeal made by Honda Racing in relation to Brodie Connolly’s two-position penalty applied in the second moto.
Polyflor Honda Racing rider Connolly was penalised two places as a result of going off-track during a battle between he and then Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki fill-in Ryan Alexanderson.
That initial decision was made by the clerk of the course and later contested via an appeal lodged by Connolly’s team, which saw the defending champion receive the winner’s trophy from the round. This was then overturned by the series steward, with the penalty reinstated and leaving Kingsford as the victor.
A further appeal from Honda Racing was then heard by an independent tribunal, which reviewed footage, considered interviews, and ultimately upheld the original ruling. As a result, Connolly’s penalty stands, and no further appeal is permitted.
“Motorcycling Australia (MA) wishes to provide an update that, following the finalisation of the appeal process, results from MX2 moto two held as part of ProMX round two held at Appin on April 13, 2025, have now been confirmed as final,” an update from the series organiser confirmed.
“An appeal was lodged by Honda Racing Australia with respect to the decisions of the MA steward at ProMX round two – Appin, and has been heard by the independent tribunal.
“After review by the tribunal of the circumstances, review of video and interviews conducted, the chair of tribunal has made the determination that the appeal is rejected, and the original decision made by the clerk of the course during the race should stand – that is, that rider number one [Brodie Connolly] is penalised two places in moto two for gaining an off-track advantage.
“Upon providing this decision by the tribunal, no further appeal is possible. This matter is now considered closed.”
The final classification from the MX2 class has now been made official, with Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha’s Kingsford’s consistent performance across both motos securing him top honours for the round.
With the official announcement, Kingsford – who also claimed the MX2 overall at Gillman’s third round – sits four points behind the current series points leader and defending champion Connolly entering the fourth round at Traralgon on May 25.
