Round three of the 2025 Australian ProMX Championship was abandoned on Sunday following a serious incident involving MX1 competitor Joel Evans, who has sadly been confirmed to have lost his life at the Gillman event.

Evans fell in the final moto of the day, leading to a red-flag stoppage, and was immediately attended to by series medical staff in South Australia.

The popular and highly-respected 30-year-old Queenslander had grown an immense following through his YouTube channel and social media activities throughout much of his career, while racing both in Australia and overseas on an international scale.

Evans has been on the rise in Australian motocross during recent seasons, this year riding with support of the Caloundra Motorcycle Centre team onboard a Kawasaki KX450 and firmly establishing himself among the top 10 over the course of the opening rounds.

On behalf of all at Foremost Media and MotoOnline, our thoughts are with the Evans family and all of those affected by this tragedy.

Joel Evans – son, brother, fiancé and friend – will forever be remembered as one of the good ones on and off-track, a talented racer who was able to continually extract the best out of himself in over a decade of professional competition.
