Resumed riding last week after recovering from a broken femur.
Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki MX2 recruit Cambell Williams has conceded that he will miss Wonthaggi’s opening round of the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship, despite recently receiving medical clearance to begin riding following a femur injury sustained during AUSX last season.
Upon returning for his second stint with Empire Kawasaki in 2025, Williams is electing to prioritise his recovery in a bid to regain 100 percent fitness before lining up again at the national level.
“I’ve been given the all-clear to get back on the bike,” Williams explained. “My bone has healed nicely over the past three months and I’ve been riding again for about a week. Now, the focus shifts to rebuilding my leg, repairing the ligaments, and regaining strength.
“After discussing with the team, we’ve decided to put the bike aside for a little longer and prioritise recovery. It’s not an easy decision, but I don’t want to rush back and race unprepared. I won’t be racing at Wonthaggi, but I’ll still be there with the team as I prepare to get back behind the gate.”
While it remains unclear when Williams will be fit to return to competition, Empire Kawasaki has been linked to Ryan Alexanderson as a potential replacement rider in recent weeks. After finishing P8 in the national MX2 series in 2023, he spent last year in EMX250 and finished 23rd in the final standings with a best result of P8 at the final round.
