SX3 red plate-holder Ross extends with Newcastle win

American Parker Ross made it two from two to open the 2023 Fox Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX) in Newcastle tonight, as Cooper Ford won the CR22 85 Cup final.

After winning on debut in Adelaide, Polyflor Honda Racing’s Ross delivered again to extend his advantage with a single round remaining in the series.

GYTR Yamaha Junior Racing’s Kayd Kingsford led the first half of the race until Ross took charge on lap five of the seven, going on to win by 5.150s ahead of Kingsford and Husqvarna-mounted Jyle Campbell. Lachlan Morris (KTM) and Seth Burchell (GYTR Yamaha Junior Racing) filled the top-five.

In the CR22 85 Cup, KTM Junior Racing Team’s Cooper Ford was two seconds clear of Heath Davy (GYTR Yamaha Junior Racing), leading from wire-to-wire in the seven-lap duration.

New Zealand talent Levi Townley (Yamaha) recovered from a first turn incident to claw his way back onto the podium in third, while fourth was Nixon Darragh (Husqvarna) and fifth, Lachlan Allen (KTM). Opening round winner Jack Nunn (GasGas) claimed P6 tonight.
