Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) will enter a CR-based prototype electric motocross bike in the IA1 (450) class of the All Japan Motocross Championship, with Trey Canard lining up as a wildcard at Offroad Village, Saitama.

American factory test rider Canard, 33, will be on-track in the Japanese series with HRC’s latest electric-powered motocross model, complete with factory components and in association with Mugen.

“The electric motocrosser CR Electric Proto will be entered in the D.I.D All Japan Motocross Championship 2023 round eight, Saitama,” a statement from HRC announced.

“This will be Honda’s first attempt to enter a Honda-developed electric motorcycle in the All Japan Championship and will make a wildcard appearance as Team HRC, operated by HRC. Trey Canard, 2010 AMA Pro Motocross 250 class champion, will ride the CR Electric Proto at the event.”

Round eight of the All Japan Motocross Championship will take place from 28-29 October, with Australian Jay Wilson – winner of the IA2 250 class title last year – of the Yamaha Factory Innovation Team currently leading the IA1 standings by virtue of a perfect season to date.
