Australian Matt Moss has confirmed he will contest the Glendale round of 2023 Monster Energy Supercross this weekend, reuniting with the BarX Suzuki team.

Moss’ first featured with the team at Oakland earlier this year, where he went on to finish an impressive third place in his heat race. Unfortunately, a sprained thumb in the opening laps of the 250SX West main event would end his night early.

After recently signing with MDK Motorsports to ride a Yamaha YZ450F in the upcoming World Supercross Championship (WSX) beginning in July, 34-year-old Moss has returned to the US to ride an RM-Z250 in the meantime.

“I’m a free-agent until WSX, so I’m just having fun and racing the races I want to do until that starts,” Moss explained to MotoOnline.com.au. “I’m just excited to get these opportunities to race dirt bikes and not be sitting in an excavator at home.

“I’m feeling good on Suzuki again, we’ve had two brief days back on the bikes doing some testing, so I’m excited to race this weekend. I’ll definitely be back in Australia to race the Wodonga and Maitland ProMX rounds with WBR, so it’s all happening [laughs], but like I’ve said before, I’m just enjoying racing dirt bikes and I’m grateful for every opportunity I get.”

Outside of his time in America this year, Moss made a surprise last-minute decision to race the second round of the 2023 Penrite ProMX Championship at Appin with WBR Bulk Nutrients Yamaha last month. He will return to Australia for round three of the ProMX championship taking place at Wodonga on 16 April, followed by Maitland on 6-7 May.
