Penrite ProMX Championship officials have confirmed that points will be awarded for the motos completed at Wonthaggi on Sunday prior to round one of the 2023 season’s cancellation.

The event was cancelled following a serious incident in the MX2 opening moto that tragically claimed the life of Brayden Erbacher. That race was red-flagged, before being restarted to reach its completion.

Also completed before the severity of the incident became apparent publicly was the MX1 Top 10 Shootout topped by Jed Beaton (Boost Mobile Honda Racing), while earlier in the morning the MXW category opened proceedings for the new season.

“The results from the incomplete opening round of the 2023 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores have been posted,” a statement from ProMX confirmed.

“Results for MX2 and MXW are available and the points table reflects these completed races, subject to protests.”

It was Terrafirma Honda Racing’s Wilson Todd who took the chequered flag first in MX2 moto one, ahead of Nathan Crawford (KTM Racing Team) and Jesse Dobson (Serco Yamaha), while Charli Cannon (Yamalube Yamaha Racing) won the opening MXW race, leading Taylor Thompson (Yamaha) and Emma Milesevic (Honda Racing). No points were awarded for MX1 qualifying.

Full points and results from round one have been published, with round two of the 2023 ProMX season scheduled to take place at Appin, New South Wales, on 19 March.
