The opening round of the 2023 Australian ProMX Championship has been cancelled with immediate effect, Motorcycling Australia has confirmed following a serious incident this morning.

“Motorcycling Australia regrets to announce that due to a serious incident, round one of the ProMX Championship at Wonthaggi in Victoria has been cancelled with immediate effect,” a statement from MA read.

“While the incident is being investigated, there will be no further comment at this time. A statement will be made in due course.”

The schedule for the opening round reached the completion of the MX1 Top 10 Shootout, before the decision was made to cancel the event.
