Long-time Yamaha rider Jayce Cosford has been given a factory opportunity with the Yamalube Yamaha Racing Team to compete in the 2022 Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX), effectively replacing the injured Alex Larwood in SX2.

Cosford delivered breakout results in MX2 throughout this year’s Penrite ProMX Championship, scoring moto podiums in race one at Coolum and in the second bout at Coffs Harbour.

The 21-year-old completed his first laps onboard the factory machine today and is relishing the opportunity to compete with the team. He stated to MotoOnline: “I was so stoked when I got it, it’s been like a dream since I could first remember, to be on the Yamaha team.

“I’m pretty excited to be a part of it, I had my first ride today on the bike and I was super happy with it and felt comfortable straight away. Everything is looking good, I’m just so keen to get after it.”

The four-round 2022 AUSX Championship commences at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne on 21 October alongside round two of this year’s FIM World Supercross (WSX) Championship.
