It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Kyle Webster in his return to the 2022 Penrite ProMX Championship, however, the Honda Racing rider says he’s ‘not too disappointed’ with the outcome at Queensland Moto Park (QMP).

Round seven of the series marked Webster’s first national motocross race since April, when he was injured the week following ProMX at Mackay. He completed his first laps back on a bike in mid-July.

The number 96 made a strong start to moto one at QMP and ran inside the top three until lap six, before dropping back to take the chequered flag eighth. Webster was P8 again in the first part of moto two before an early crash in the race’s final outing brought a premature end to his day.

“The last one didn’t go how I wanted it to,” Webster said to MotoOnline. “I got a really, really good start actually and just got hit from the inside and went down. A bit of damage to the bike and had to pull in unfortunately.

“As for the day, with only a few weeks back on the bike and over three months off of it, I’m not too disappointed. I didn’t expect heaps coming here, I just wanted to come and ride. I don’t see the point of sitting on the sidelines watching when I can come and race.

“I came here to have some fun and enjoy the last two, and that’s what I did. I felt it, I was smoked at the end of each moto which is what I was expecting.”

Last year’s MX2 champion showed strong form in the premier class to start the season and held the red plate before he was injured. He will lineup again this weekend in Coolum alongside Honda Racing teammates Dean Ferris and Wilson Todd in MX1.
