MX2 rookie Blake Fox will undergo surgery after tearing his ACL and meniscus, ruling him out of the remaining rounds of the 2022 Penrite ProMX Championship.

Fox, 18, sustained the injuries while competing in round five of the Sunshine State MX Series at Toowoomba last weekend, which will see him sidelined for the foreseeable future.

“With the tears, we are looking for surgery in the next week or two, and then head straight into it rehab and physio,” Fox told MotoOnline. “We are looking to round one next year, that is the goal at the moment, but you never know, things could change, might be back earlier, but that is what we are looking at.”

It’s a challenging blow for the GasGas Racing Team rider, who was continuing to build in MX2 and leads 2022 Australian Arenacross in AX2. The latest injuries will prevent him from contesting the final two rounds of that series and Australian Supercross later this year.
