Improving Mitch Evans scored another season-best result in the 2022 MXGP World Championship as he notched 6-5 finishes to land P6 overall in Indonesia.

Evans, 23, progressively worked his way forwards from eighth in the opening moto to score another promising top six.

In moto two, the Team HRC rider showed great pace to set the second-fastest lap time – only slower than teammate and round winner Tim Gajser – on route to his best race result of the season.

“Another season-best performance so I am very happy with that, especially after feeling so bad earlier in the day,” said Evans. “I really had to fight hard in both races to keep my pace up and keep the riders behind me, so this was a massive effort and it feels great to have that effort pay off.

“Scoring 31-points and getting sixth overall after six-five moto scores is a nice boost heading into these couple of weeks off, so now I will keep working hard and keep this momentum for the next round in the Czech Republic.”

The stronger showing at round 12 builds on Evans’ momentum from Germany where he finished seventh overall. Following a three-week break, the 2022 MXGP World Championship resumes at Loket in the Czech Republic on 17 July.
