This weekend’s MXGP of Great Britain marks the comeback of Team HRC’s Mitch Evans, the highly talented North Queenslander admittedly still building leading into the 2022 season-opener.

Evans was forced to miss the 2021 championship in its entirety due to a lingering wrist left injury that first occurred at MXGP of Spain in 2020, having to undergo three surgeries in an attempt to fix the problem.

“It’s been a long time since my last MXGP so I’m excited to be lining up once again,” Evans stated. “I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself because I know I’m not at the level I want to be at yet, but the important thing is to go out there and perform as best I can and get used to racing with these guys again.

“The pre-season races were good practice but this is the real thing now, I really want to enjoy the weekend and enjoy being back involved with Team HRC at the world championships.”

While Evans may understandably need a few world championship races under his belt in his return to achieve a level that will allow him to showcase his true talent, many believe the opening races may be critical in determining the number 43’s HRC future.

Through the recovery process Evans has displayed maturity and resilience, the CRF450R rider known to be quick to adapt and willing to put in the work to deliver strong results.
