Detailed: 2022 KTM 450 SX-F and 250 SX-F Factory Edition range

All-new models uncovered at KTM Factory Racing Team intro.

KTM has released the latest 2022 450 SX-F and 250 SX-F Factory Editions, developed based on the feedback and success of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing riders, serving the platform of the US team’s race bikes for the upcoming season.

Both 2022 SX-F Factory Edition machines benefit from a range specific 450cc and 250cc engine upgrades, the 450SX-F FE receiving a new SOHC engine providing class-leading power and low weight, as the 250 SX-F FE gets a new DOHC engine providing class-leading torque and peak power.

Each 2022 SX-F FE model boasts a new quickshift feature enabling seamless up-shifting without the clutch, which joins two selectable maps of traction control and launch control to make the electronics even more advanced. Navigation of the electronics is made simple with the new multi-functional map switch.

Handling is further enhanced on each 2022 SX-F FE model with an all-new hydro-formed chromium molybdenum frame, which significantly improves anti-squat behaviour. With mass centralisation and flex optimisation the key goals, KTM engineers also reimagined the subframe and swingarm – a new one-piece swingarm with optimized topology was produced, along with a new aluminium-polyamide hybrid subframe offering advanced durability and rigidity.

Suspension wise, the new chassis design on each 2022 SX-F FE model includes a new shock mount which greatly improves feeling and comfort. New WP XACT 48 mm front forks with AER technology offer more progressive end-of-stroke damping, while a new WP XACT rear shock design with CFD optimised main piston and tool-free adjusters is featured on both bikes.

New bodywork with specifically tailored ergonomics for easier rider movement is boasted by both 2022 250 SX-F and 450SX-F FE machines, notably improving the rider triangle – especially while standing – inspiring confidence for riders of any level. Added contact surfaces on the bodywork make moving the bike around on track much easier and improve overall handling and agility, as the flat seat profile, combined with the race-proven Selle Dalla Valle high grip seat cover delivers riders exceptional control in any condition.

Closely matching the aesthetics of the Red Bull KTM Factory race bikes, the graphics of the all-new KTM SX-F FE models are closely based on what the team will use throughout the 2022 season, with in-mold technology used to implement sponsor logos and graphic design elements to help guarantee the high-quality factory race look after a hard day at the track.

Top-shelf derived racing components come standard on both 2022 SX-F FE bikes, including CNC-machined Factory Racing triple clamps – made from high-grade aluminium – which allow optimally tuned steering stem stiffness, perfect alignment of the fork tubes and precise geometry of the fork clamps to ensure highly responsive and smooth fork action. Maximum gains in handling are provided by simple offset adjustment of 20mm or 22mm.

Further contributing to the factory appearance and performance of each bike, black high-strength alloy rims by DID Dirt Star with laser engraved logos are coupled to orange CNC-machined hubs, using lightweight black spokes and orange anodized aluminium nipples. Factory wheels are fitted with Dunlop GEOMAX MX33 Motocross tyres, developed in AMA Supercross and Motocross, for enhanced handling, cornering and traction.

Details such as a mechanical factory holeshot device, soft, gray ODI lock-on grips, new polyamide composite skid plate and new polyamide composite front brake disc guard for added protection all contribute to making these machines Ready To Race.

The all-new 2022 KTM 450 SX-F FE and 250 SX-F FE will arrive at authorised KTM dealers in February 2022, with only 400 models of each being made available. For more information, visit www.ktm.com. At this stage, it has not been revealed that the 2022 SX-F FE models will be coming to Australia.
