Team Honda HRC rider Hunter Lawrence is remaining upbeat after taking his first moto podium in three rounds at Budds Creek.

Just over a month after Lawrence went 1-1 on the day to dominate round six of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, he finally found the podium in a moto again at Budds Creek.

On the heels of a difficult first moto plagued by a rough start and multiple issues with his bike, Lawrence put a solid ride together to finish third behind his brother Jett and eventual winner Jeremy Martin (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha).

“I was glad to bounce back in the second moto with a solid, clean race,” Lawrence explained. “I had a better start, put myself in a better position and brought it home for third.

“I’m happy with that and look forward to Ironman. I have a couple more chances to get an overall and will work hard to make that happen.”

The elder Lawrence brother has had the speed to win all season long but has been hindered by starts, something he says is the key to grabbing another win before the season ends in three weeks.

“For sure it wasn’t the best day, first moto really got away from us, just a few things out of my control. Starts are definitely going to be one thing that’s key for giving myself a better chance to be up there with those guys from the start.”

Lawrence will get his next shot to grab a 250MX win this Saturday, 28 August as the series returns to Ironman in Indiana.
