All-new YZ125 the highlights revamped two-stroke line-up.
Yamaha has unveiled its 2022 YZ motocross range, with revamped YZ125 and YZ250 models highlighting their latest offering, alongside updated YZ250F and YZ450F’s for the new year.
By providing the fun and exhilaration of lightweight, powerful two-strokes to the next generation, Yamaha aims to continue to play an integral role in developing young riders and building future champions.
The two-strokes are highlighted by the YZ125, marking the first full model change for the bike in more than 15 years. Features include a more powerful new engine, revised frame, improved suspension, updated brakes, enhanced ergonomics and new styling.
Yamaha engineers have worked to create the most powerful engine ever fitted to a production YZ125. In their quest for stronger performance, the design team has built an all-new engine that develops significantly higher power in the mid-to high-rpm range.
A new detachable rear frame features a new mounting point for the shorter silencer, while a newly-designed raised cross member allows for improved intake efficiency by giving a clear route for incoming air.
Yamaha’s flagship YZ250 two-stroke received a host of upgrades as well, with changes to make the seat flatter and slimmer bodywork, improved low-rpm power with a high-efficiency intake system, revised suspension settings, upgraded brakes and all-new graphics.
Outside of the Team Yamaha Blue option, both of the two-stroke models will also now be available in Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition colours.
With compact new bodywork as well as a flatter seat and range of chassis revisions, many of the changes on the new YZ85 mirror those seen on the YZ125. It has brake upgrades both front and rear and is improved power at lower rpm with a high-efficiency air intake.
For 2022, Yamaha’s four-stroke MX models, the YZ250F and YZ450F continue with a range of technical changes designed to optimise their proven winning potential. Both models are lighter and feature revised suspension settings, as well as a new rear sprocket with a gold-coloured chain and DID wheel rims are fitted.
Yamaha’s YZ250F rear wheel features a wider 2.15 rim and a 110/90 tyre, as well as a lighter hub and revised three-cross spoke pattern.
The Team Yamaha Blue colour scheme features a new duo-tone blue body, as well as new in-mould graphics. Yamaha will also continue to offer both models in the Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition with Monster Black bodywork.
In addition for 2022, the Yamaha YZ65 entry-level racer remains unchanged from 2021, except for updated Team Yamaha Blue embedded graphics.
The 2022 YZ125 will be available in Team Yamaha Blue or Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition from Q4 this year, the YZ250 from August 2021, both YZ 85 models in early 2022, while the latest YZ65 will be available this month from your local dealership.
The YZ four-stroke range sees the YZ250-F available in Team Yamaha Blue this month, with the Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition due in September 2021.
