ProMX regular Maximus Purvis has been granted an opportunity to race this weekend’s Hattah Desert Race after a practice crash sidelined ShopYamaha Off-Road Racing’s Josh Green.

Green suffered a heavy crash while practicing in Victoria in the lead up to the popular desert race, where he was transported to hospital with concerns about injury to his hip and pelvic area.

It’s understood further scans revealed no major damage, however the New South Welshman won’t be in a physical state to contest this weekend’s event.

WBR Yamaha’s Purvis, who’s been impressive in his rookie MX1 campaign, was initially pencilled in to race Hattah before Gillman’s ProMX postponement changed his plans, however further changes in the motocross calendar – and Green’s injury – has opened up the chance to race his first desert event.

The youthful talent will ride Green’s purpose-built WR450F and is set to compete with the assistance of both Shop Yamaha and WBR Yamaha – the ProMX team also slated to field Bailey Malkiewicz and Kale Makeham.
